Research Programme
The foundation's research activities cover three broad areas of leadership development political, policy and community leadership. At the political level the foundation will focus on the leadership traditions, styles and values of national leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Steve Biko etc. The foundation also conducts research on policy/ administrative leadership, especially at the local government level, which is where most service delivery is supposed to take place. The main focus of the research is the interface between community leadership and political and policy leaders at both the local and national levels. These studies will investigate the extent to which social values and priorities find expression in public policy, and, conversely, how public policy formulation and implementation is linked to local communities. Particular attention will be given to research on youth leadership within a broader community development framework.
