As envisioned, the Frank Talk pilot will commence in Johannesburg in May 2010 and run for a twelve month period. While the Steve Biko Foundation will consistently incorporate the input of participants into the initiative, in March 2011, the Foundation will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the program. It is the objective of the Steve Biko Foundation that after the pilot phase of the project, the Steve Biko Foundation will utilize the lessons learned to develop a Frank Talk toolkit. This toolkit will enable stakeholders and champions in a number of locales to begin Frank Talk Dialogues by assisting interested parties with the how to of facilitating meaningful dialogue. It will include information on effective moderation, managing divergent points of view and audience engagement among other issues. The dialogues that will emanate from use of the toolkit will also be broadcast via the FrankTalk website, with constituents naturally having access to the online network and opportunities to contribute to the FrankTalk Journal. In this way, the Foundation will be able to mobilize a critical mass of young professionals around national and global issues while ensuring local relevance.
